The Flint Hills Bass Association is one of the oldest clubs in the nation. FHBA was established in 1972 by anglers with a passion for bass fishing. The club is affiliated with the Bass Angler’s Sportsman’s Society (BASS) and has members of all ages.
The club works on conservation projects, youth and family activities and conducts seven bass tournaments a year with a classic tournament at the conclusion of the season.
Boat partners are drawn at monthly meetings of the club and each pair participate in a paper tournament. The fish are caught, measured and immediately returned to the lake. The winner is determined by the total calculated measurements. You don’t have to own a boat to become a member and participate and the club has an annual awards banquet at the end of the season.
One of their youth activities focuses on the Casting Kids contest, a nationally organized event through BASS in which youngsters test their various casting skills hitting targets with a bass jig. Kids participate all across the country in local and regional qualifying contests and the finalists compete at a national event. The Flint Hills Bass Association also sponsors a youth bass club to promote interest in bass angling for kids of all ages.
